Upcoming Activites!

Hi everyone!
You may have received many emails with all the different things we have planned in the near future, so allow me to do the favor of centralizing it into one easy list.

  • Liberty Report - We will be printing a special "election" edition of the Liberty Report before November. Please send in your articles by either posting them right on the blog here, or emailing them to editor@unrforliberty.com Write in!

  • Pizza with Sons of Liberty - There's a new meetup scheduled on the local Campaign For Liberty site. It will be this Wednesday (the 24th), 7pm at Lamppost Pizza in South Reno. It will be a great way to get involved with the local liberty movement. Let us know if you want to go and you need a ride.

  • Meeting: Anarcho-Capitalism - The next meeting is going to be this Thursday, September 25th at 7:00PM in Room 423 of the JCSU. Let's open our minds (together), and learn about another viewpoint! Come join Barry, our resident anarchist, attempt to defend the undefended (such as drugs, guns, and gay marriage) and call for an end
to government participation in all forms such as health care, safety standards, the police and the military.

  • Presidential Debate Screening - You may already know that there will be a Presidential Debate Screening in the Student Union Theater on Friday (the 26th) at 5pm. I'm emailing to encourage everyone to go, and hang out with us for the event! (We're probably just as grumpy and unhappy about the candidates as you are, so you don't have to worry about us trying to convince you that at least one of them doesn't suck.)

  • Nobody '08 - Help us put together signs this Saturday, September 27th @ noon in the Knowledge Center 1st floor. Once they are put together, either later that day or early next week we will be giving them to residents of the dorms to put in their windows in order to raise awareness of the only candidate who will keep their promises, care about your issues, and not lie: Nobody We will also be printing our vinyl club banner.

  • CATO Speaker - Near the end of October, Senior Fellow Gerald P. O'Driscoll Jr., who is a widely quoted expert on international economic issues, including trade, finance and economic development, will be gracing the university with a lecture. Stay tuned for an exact date and topic.

  • How to Survive a Police Encounter - In early November, the UNR Students for Liberty have teamed up with Flipside to present a movie and an expert speaker afterward explaining practical advice and Constitutional education in how to properly flex your rights during a police encounter in the JCSU theatre. You will NOT want to miss this event! More details to come...

  • Stanford Conference: From November 15 - 16, the Students For Liberty will have their West Coast Conference at Stanford University in the Bay Area. It's going to be a great gathering of other libertarian students on the West Coast, and there are going to be some great speakers (David Friedman, Lisa Snell of the Reason Foundation, Dr. Yaron Brook of the Ayn Rand Institute, Prof. Tom W. Bell, Kurt Weber of the State Policy Network). Check out the webpage. Let us know if you're interested, we'd like to get as many members as possible to the conference. Also, we're planning a carpool up there, so let us know if you want to join in on that.

  • Washington, D.C. Conference: Right now we're planning our travel for the International Students For Liberty Conference that will be held in late February in Washington DC. ASUN has funded two plane tickets, but we're planning to send more students. Let us know if you're interested in that as well.
All of these events will be on our Facebook group, as well as on our calendar as soon as they become locked in. Please come and attend! We have some great things planned, and we would love to see you all there. For Freedom!
